Sichuan Food: what do users think?

Chris Matthews: This is fine dining Chinese. White table cloths; attentive waiting staff; delicate, flavoursome and beautifully presented food. The lightest, most delicate Peking Duck pancakes ever eaten. Simply first class.

Vlogger Marc: We made a booking at this restaurant. Because they ones owned a michelin star. The welcoming of the staff was warm and we were offeren to sit outside or inside. As we like our food warm while its served, we decided to sit inside. We orded a menu with different dishes. Which was very nice. The decoration of some of the dishes could be a little more decorative. The toilet are upstairs, followed by a small stairs into a dank space. A little bit of light would be better. Enough suggestions, our wine was good and so was our host. He still likes to serve the customer and talks about everything. By the way try the Peking duck, its a populair menu here!

Sandra Djuric: Good food, duck menu is amazing. Prices at the higher end.

Jesus Lago: The food was ok, but they place is way too expensive. We order one dish per person and one bottle of water. We pay 100+ euros. Part of the price was hidden fees (e.g. they tell you that the dish comes with either rice or noodles, but they charge the rice as an extra dish), other parts were insane prices (8 euros for a bottle of water).

laruku L: Excellent service and authentic chinese food, you can taste the difference in their peking duck vs. other restaurants in Europe. They have a good range of wine available, and they pair nicely with the food. I especially like the Spanish wine recommended by the owner.

Isabelle Berger: Average, bland on the borderline bad. Lack of taste and too much fat. Do not recommend.

Brian Hur: Amazing Peking duck and best Chinese food in Amsterdam hands down. Thank you for the wonderful food and service.

Andrey Kuchin: For many years it has been the most delicious restaurant of Sichuan cuisine. Fine dining family restaurant where everything is fine: food, service, atmosphere. The best Peking duck in all of Europe Every week I come back here again and again

China Sichuan Restaurant / Warmoesstraat: what do users think?

Latha K: The best Chinese Restaurant I have been to. The Staff greats well and the service is also fast. The menu is a huge book, but a very detailed one, I would say. Its good to have such a huge and detailed menu, as people who has less knowledge about the cuisine, gets to understand what they can order to eat. The quality of the food is always fresh. We ordered - Sichuan Mapo Tofu, Fried beans, Sichuan palace Eggplant. The spices of these dishes always amaze me. I have visited this restaurant almost 10 times till now and they never disappointed me. Vegetarian options: They do also have a number of vegetarian options (which I have tasted them). But ofcourse the meat options are more in number. Parking: There is no parking for this area. Hence be prepared to walk in the tiny streets.

Winnie Felicia Gunawan: Thumbs up to the best Chinese restaurant in the town! Service was quick, staff were all so friendly and helpful. The meals were fantastic! My favourite would be the Chongqing Chili Chicken, it was just so good. The other meals were amazing as well and very satisfying. Somewhat I found the cow stomach sauce was a bit too salty, but still tasted nice. I really like the restaurant I even came back the very next day. Will def do my visit again if I’m in Amsterdam

Nikolas Do: Great restaurant with original flavours, nice and friendly service and good value for money. When I m in Amsterdam I always pay a visit. Spicy dumplings is a must. Fully recommended.

Yuri van den Brand: It is no wonder that this restaurant is in the top 15 restaurants of Amsterdam: If you are looking for authentic sichuan food, this is the place to be. With little over 30 seats available, you will definitely have to make a reservation to ensure a spot to eat. With their large menu and powerful flavours, you will keep coming back to try out new dishes. The food is amazing but service can be a bit slow since they do not have enough staff to handle the high demand. The food is fairly expensive and the restaurant is also quite small, so do not bring any large luggage like suitcases or large bags, since you will have a hard time storing them next to your table.

Patrice Kerremans: I have no idea how “real” Chinese food is supposed to taste (and I know for sure there’s not one kind of “Chinese food” either), but this tasted de.li.cious. I had some veggie spring rolls (which were good), and the spicy Chungking special hotpot mixed vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, potato slices, sliced lotus stems…) & dried tofu sheets (which tasted so much better than the stock tofu we buy in the shop). This stew was sooo good. The service was friendly and quick. The surroundings calm and pleasant. I’ll certainly go back when I’m Amsterdam…

Giu: That was the BEST meal I had ever eaten. I had pork with sezuan sauce and it was amazing!!! super crispy and at the same time very spicy the rice was very very good. There is a reason why they have multiple locations. A reservation is need for busy hours

Minh anh Dao: Food was okay… Pork caramelized was tender and juicy. But the duck was very dry and was a small portion (22€~ price is a bit higher than other restaurants nearby). Decoration is cute. -But honestly the hygiene is 🤮☠️ So warm inside the restaurant, toilets are disgusting, very awful for a restaurant. -Service was a bit awkward as the waiters didn’t bring our main dish altogether (we were only 2 of us). They were also confused and brought our food to different tables , this mistakes happened several times. Has to ask another waitress for the rice. Overall, Not the best quality and quantity for money as they were a bit more pricey than the other asian restaurants in the neighborhood

Pearl Xia: Good taste, authentic Sichuan cuisine. Many people waiting in the queue during the meal time, so it’s better to get there earlier.

China Sichuan Restaurant / Zeedijk: what do users think?

Veit Brnk: We were here years ago - not much has changed. Traditional Sichuan cuisine - not the best in Amsterdam, but still very tasty. Service could certainly be improved - but it’s okay. You should probably only come to eat from 1 p.m. and not at 12:30 p.m. as Google says - haha.

Ana S: If it was only for the food I would’ve give 5 stars. However there were some *huge* problems with the restaurant: the pages of the menu were disgusting; there was sauce splashed on the walls next to the table; too many flies flying around; blocks of dust near the windows; no desserts… It’s a pity because the food and decor are very nice.

Lemmy Mwalwala: Place was quite crowded and I can see why. Probably one of the biggest restaurant menus I have ever seen, lots of options, all great looking. The food was delicious and portions extremely generous. Good service as well

Aga: Super delicious! The Best food what I Have eaten in Amsterdam, suitable design of the interior, nice staff, and a lot of People, what is a sign about very good food. Food was really delicious, like a Discovery, explosion of the flavorous, textures and colours. Everything was perfectly spiced. And because of you I felt in love with sichuan cuisine...

蒋雪: Authentic Chinese Sichuan food (spicy) and fast service! Can be busy so good idea to make a reservation.

Shin K: Poor service quality… Please hire more servers. We asked 3times just to get chopsticks. Rice is served 20min after main dishes.. 🤷 Other than this, Sichuan food was delicious.

Qiao WAN: Place to taste the Sichuan dishes. Spicy beef with tofu is authentic enough, with huge quantity. We two girls didn’t manage to finish two dishes. The vegetables are just ok. All in all a nice Chinese restaurant for friends to eat together every now and then.

Chuan Yan Restaurant - 川菜馆: what do users think?

Joy Wong: Service was fast and warm, food was super delicious and not overpoweringly spicy compared to other sichuan places. It’s perfect! Our waitress also advised we reduce our rice serving from two to one serving of rice because it was big enough for two. Strongly recommend, you’ll see lots of Chinese diners as well, so that says something

Yuping Ning: I have to say the taste and the quality of the food is good. The price is higher than I excepted but I understand, in a such location. Everything was good, but the waiter are not very professional. What I can’t understand the most is the price of the rice: 3.5 Euro for one medium size, not enough for 2 people, so we have to order twice. I highly recommend cheaper for the rice in order to let very one feel enough.

Johan Wang: Really liked the place. The food came pretty quickly and the service was fast and efficient. All the dishes were different and flavorful on their own and with a bowl of white rice..(chef kiss..here my asian side comes out). Their menu offers a wide variety of dishes that can satisfy all types of palates, but watch out if you have a sensitive stomach, because Sichuan is famous for spicy food, so it would be a shame to miss them out. The only downside of the whole meal was the price of the water, 6€. So I suggest to have maybe some tea or a soup.

Andreea Simion: The food is really good and prices are fair for Amsterdam Centre.Service was great and the lotus root salad was absolutely amazing. Will definitely return for that one. The clay pot tofu was a bit too sweet for my taste but the overall flavor was good. I would love to see more vegetarian options in the future.

Conrad Cardona: Good spicy food! The aubergine was amazing but the mapo tofu could have been better. Overall a good experience!

Rawad Dalal: Near China town you can find this restaurant that offers lots of varieties of Chinese food. Food was very good, portions very big to share with a fair price and lots of choices. Staff were friendly but I didn’t like that you have to always call them to ask for things (soya, napkins, etc.) { recommended }

Kibo matsu: OMG best foood, If i lived in Amsterdam i would honestly eat here as often as I could. Affordable prices and the best asian food I have eaten! I have celiac disorder, but they had a lot of food I could eat Dietary restrictions: Glutenfree food! They have a seperate list of all their dishes with allergies !

Kevin D: I hate to post a poor review, but wanted to provide a warning I wish I would have had before eating here. Based on the overall review, I imagine people here don’t really know much about Sichuan cuisine. I’ll caveat that I’m not Dutch and I understand Chinese food is hard to find in Amsterdam, but I was really disappointed to see a Sichuan restaurant serve dishes that don’t at all resemble Sichuan flavors (no offense intended to the owners or chefs). No Sichuan restaurant should serve €17 kungpao(宫保鸡丁)that tastes like Americanized sweet and sour. Also, the €15 DanDan (担担面)here is a bland noodle soup which is extremely odd. The €14 eggplant (鱼香茄子)somewhat resembles the real dish and is mediocre. Attaching a photo that shows the strange consistency and presentation of the food. Tl;dr food here doesn’t taste Sichuan, portions are small yet dishes are pricey, and also be warned that a liter of water costs €7. The ambience is decent and staff were kind, but it just doesn’t make up for how unsatisfying the food is. It won’t scratch the itch if you’re looking for Sichuan food.

Alice Zhao: The best mapo tofu + yuxiang eggplant! Authentic Sichuan food for a good price! Food was always fast and service is always nice.

Hugo Charles-Messance: First, the setting is fabulous! I loved the food too, super tasty and surprising. And our waitress was super professional and friendly, despite the fact that she was obviously super busy. Totally worth a visit!

Ellie Walker: Amazing food! Each dish better than the next. Proper spice lover snacking!

Thomas Boonen: Great setting and vibe, even better tasting food. Incredible tasting dishes, wish we could’ve ordered the whole menu. Beware if you don’t like spicy food though.

Kevin Lieber: Excellent. Ordered almost everything, and each dish was a star. Service was awesome, and the place itself had such a unique and cool environment.

Tommy Khang Giang: Friendly staff and very good food!

Qi Zhang: Love the vibe here. Nice place to meet friends and enjoy authentic Sichuan food

Danny Haryono: Good food in a good spot run by good people. Will definitely be back.
