This boutique hotel has been run by a family for more than 80 years. Quite a few things have changed over the years. The premises started out as a guest house with 12 rooms and has now been developed into a luxury gem with 91 rooms and two suites. The building is now included on UNESCO’s world heritage list and has undergone a significant transformation. However, the one thing which has definitely remained over the course of time is a true family feeling, personal attention, service, authenticity and an eye for detail. And you don’t just see that when you enter our hotel, you will feel it too.

Hotel Estheréa has 91 luxuriously furnished rooms and two colourful suites. Each room is unique, literally every detail has been carefully considered. All rooms are accessible by lift and the hotel is completely non-smoking. This hotel’s charm is in the historic building and its history, so it’s quite possible for there to be differences in the room sizes. Classic rooms are at least 13 m², Luxury rooms 20 m² and the Suites are either 30 m² or 55 m².

Are you planning on organising a meeting? We have three stylish meeting rooms available for your use, suitable for groups of up to 18 people. The location is ideal. The only negative would be to update your carpets and put tea kettles in every room. The beds are so comfortable and the staff very friendly. I need a regular hotel to stay in, but the carpets put me off. That said, everything else is fine.

We were met by a rude male staff member who treated me like I was a joke. We even complained about stained and dirty matress in our room and they did nothing and didnt even apologise.

The location and the friendly staff were the best features. And it was cheaper than most other Amsterdam hotels I had considered. It was very no frills and the ugliest building in Amsterdam! Two elevator rides and a long corridor got me to a small, dated, beige room with no fridge (thank goodness for a gap between window panes where I could keep medication cool). I liked the downstairs foyer and bar/breakfast area; it had a friendly, casual hostel feel, but they started renovating it the day after I got there! Why? I’ll probs never know… although I’d possibly choose the hotel again for the train station location. Also, despite being right on top of the station, it was quiet.

Everything was perfect from front desk check-in to the cleanliness of the room.

First time in Europe, second destination and the best hotel so far. Historic building and a beautiful story behind it. Since I first stepped into the building I felt like I was at home. Great service and quality. Location could not be better. I would like to highlight Raul at the front desk, I followed all of his suggestions for things to do and see in the city. All recommendations were amazing, he went above and beyond. Breakfast was complete! Amazing room service menu! I would recommend this place to my friends and family, the 5 stars is not just for the physical hotel it’s self but for the hardworking staff in there as well.

As an ex-hotel person, I was blown away by the quality of the interactions I had with all of the staff. My room (312) was well designed and better than most I stay in, but the people the management team have selected made the big difference. Genuine, enthusiastic, willing to engage and genuinely interested in me as a person, not as just ‘a guest’. So refreshing! One person epitomised my experience: Luca in the breakfast restaurant. He is a keeper. A bundle of joyous energy first thing, with a warm, engaging personality which was a pleasure to be around. So special at making people feel special. A special place with special people creating a differentiated experience.

Was upgraded which was lovely. Shame Paul on concierge was on holiday as we have been coming regularly to the hotel since 1999 we were even there 1999/2000 eve .... great fun.
